Halton Races for a Good Cause!
The local Jr. Achievement of South Central Kentucky is again having the Mini Corvette Challenge this Saturday, May 5th. The Mini Corvette Challenge is the major fundraiser of the year for this worthy organization. Halton has participated in this race for many years.
From Jr. Achievement’s website: “Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life. In partnership with business and educators, Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential.” >> More Information on Jr. Achievement of South Central Kentucky
The kick-off reception for this event always features a tire change competition to allow the racing teams to show off their pit stop skills. The Pit Crew team for Halton Racing’s number 15 car took 3rd place in this competition last night with a time of 20.4 seconds. The team has to race to the car, lift the front end, remove the retaining nut and tire and put a new tire on ensuring the retaining nut is properly fastened and then getting the whole team back across the finish line with the original tire and all tools. This finish in the top 3 allows the Halton Racing team to take its pick of prime locations to set up our team tent for the race on Saturday. The Pit Team consists of Jimmy Sandusky crew chief, Faith Huffman tire handler and Andy Faller wrench man. Drivers for the team are Chris Gentry and Jeff Hilbert. Lap counter is Cathy Wisdom and official photographer for the team is Tonda Witt.
