Halton Acquires Current Energy

Energy efficiency in buildings is a global trend. Halton further strengthens its energy management expertise and service offering by acquiring Current Energy, a former Ross Perot company.

- Halton’s business scope includes solutions that create comfortable, safe and energy efficient indoor environments. The acquisition of Current Energy is an important strategic step for us strengthening our expertise in building energy efficiency, monitoring and service reporting comments Heikki Rinne, the CEO of Halton Group.

Dallas –based Current Energy delivers comprehensive energy management solutions that reduce electricity, water, and gas usage. Web-based automation and controls technology monitors building energy usage in real time. The monitoring has resulted in up to 38% savings in utility spending with the average pay-back time of 2.5 years. The energy management services are prevalent in restaurants.

Previously, Halton had partnered with Current Energy in the development of National Restaurant Federation Association’s 2009 Kitchen Innovations™ Award-winning Halton M.A.R.V.E.L. system.  The demand controlled ventilation system integrates Current Energy’s sensor and controller technology with Halton’s specialized algorithms and results in up to 50% savings in commercial kitchen ventilation operational costs. -We are now able to offer a broader range of holistic energy monitoring services reducing our customers’ energy consumption even further, Rinne concludes.

-Energy efficiency in small-box retail establishments face unique challenges. The majority of the control systems marketed today reflect the architecture built around big-box retail footprints. The acquisition of Current Energy allows Halton to focus on a core strength of small-box retail and further develop energy efficient strategies for our customer base, comments Rick Bagwell, President of Halton Group North America.

Jeff Hilbert, Vice President of National Accounts, has been nominated as the manager of the energy management business.
